Ads of the Month: The 9 Best World Cup Commercials
Every month, Kiip brings its beloved readers the top trending ads. We already told you our favorite World Cup apps, and we’re sticking to the theme this month with nine commercials that show off everything we love about soccer – err, we mean, fútbol.
9. Coca-Cola, “One World, One Game”
This ad for Coca-Cola features players from around the world discussing how the sport has changed their lives. Warning: it might tug at your heartstrings a little.
8. GoPro, “For the Love”
To truly understand the spirit of Brazil footy, watch GoPro’s ad about living, loving and playing as a local.
7. ESPN, “I Believe”
This is this year’s most spine-tingling World Cup ad. Watch it before the next US game to pump yourself up for the boys.
6. Beats by Dre, “The Game Before the Game”
Set to the heart-thumping Jay-Z remix, “Jungle,” this video shows players and enthusiasts around the world prepping for the game.
5. Emirates, “All-Time Greats”
When two fans on a plane gossip about the greatest legend of their generation, Cristiano Ronaldo quietly chuckles to himself. Until Pelé walks in the room.
4. Visa, “United in Rivals”
This cute advert interviews international Nobel Peace Laureates who are all rabid fútbol fans. The challenge: To prove that even the world’s most renowned pacifists get riled up over a match. “Is crushing a rival fun?” asks the narrator. Oscar Arias, the Laureate from 1987, looks at the camera dead-on. “Mucho.”
3. Adidas, “House Match”
Check out what happens when David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane take on Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura for a fútbol match inside Beckham’s house – by only minorly destroying it.
2. Nike Football, “Winner Stays”
When a few lads challenge each other on the field, they morph into their heroes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., Wayne Rooney and Zlatan. From a small plot to a deafening stadium, their dreams have no limits. Just for good measure, Kobe and the Hulk make cameos, too.
1. McDonald’s, “GOL!”
Our favorite World Cup ad involves amateur players, from an elderly man to a model in some seriously high stilettos, performing impressive fútbol feats. It's impossible to watch without smiling.
